It's so rare to connect with the present moment and its beauty.
The Festival of the Sun, curated by legendary music producer Rick Rubin and held in the Tuscan town of Casole d'Elsa, stopped the clocks ticking and let the sun pace two days of live music, acoustic performances, movie screening, and creative epiphanies.
A celebration of the Summer Solstice where to inspire and be inspired, where artists became listeners and listeners artists.
Unexpected venues hosted brilliant minds in a spontaneous exchange of ideas. Entrepreneur Jack Dorsey's talk opened new ways to digital freedom, and director Andrew Dominik brought Nick Cave's music poetry to a big screen set under the stars.
The atmosphere was vibrant. The town resonated with the live and acoustic performances of Krishna Das, James Blake, The Gossip, Jovanotti, Cosmo Gonick with Ecstatic Dance, Lucinda Chua, Rhye, Marie Awadis, Win and Regine from Arcade Fire.
I had the chance to witness the Festival's birth, giving a little help as a copywriter to Fiammetta Cicogna, a long-time Rubin collaborator.

A true connection

PLAYWRIGHT
A play about Clodia Metelli, the Latin poet Catullus’ muse. He was a penniless writer, she was a smart and rich woman from a powerful family. He wrote for her Odi et Amo and a whole collection of poems, adoring and despising her with the same intensity; she didn’t left a word.
Cicero described her as a nymphomaniac, a manipulative gold-digger, and a murderer.
Was she all of that? Or just a woman in a man’s world? I wrote her side of the story.
“CLODIA” debuted at the Teatro Gerolamo in Milan in 2018.

Do we need to be heroes?
In the documentary “Sea Shepherd Italia - I guardiani del mare”, the stories of a group of brave volunteers trigger many questions about how we can help the Mediterranean Sea in our everyday lives. As a writer, getting deeper into the protagonists' hopes, doubts, and expectations and collecting different - often opposite - points of view has been a fascinating journey.
The doc has been selected for the Giornate degli Autori at the 79th Venice Film Festival. The documentary is an Amazon Exclusive.

Graffiti Culture
INTERVIEW
Street artists Lady Pink and Lee Quiñones have been real trailblazers in the 70s and 80s NYC graffiti scene. The exhibition hosted by Louis Vuitton at the Garage Traversi in Milan was an homage not just to their and Rammellzee's art but also to Virgil Abloh's love for street culture.

The MAX&Co. FW 2022/23 Campaign is a bold statement: no more fake smiles. Let’s stop pretending happiness on social media and laughing just to please other people. Smiles are not to hide our feelings, but to express them. Let's enjoy our time, our way, with whomever we want, even if it's uncool and not relevant for the algorithm. True smiles happen offline.

Under the volcano

For the launch of INBILICO, the Made in Italy lab-grown diamonds brand, the creative director Andrea Incontri conceived a black&white short movie and a photo shooting set in Stromboli. My words pictured the ever-changing love game among the three protagonists.

A hendecasyllable poem written after reading about Jole, an exceptionally brave woman who eventually managed to protect her husband, even tho she faced one of the cruelest nazi officers in the infamous Roman building of via Tasso, where political opponents were tortured to death.

Growing up isn’t easy
EDITING SUPERVISOR
Officine del Minotauro is a social project that helps young people, teachers, and parents face challenging situations in their personal paths or relationships with others.
2020 has been a disorienting year for everybody. Since then, the Officine’s team has created an open dialogue to support the community. I supervised the editing of therapists’ and specialists’ articles focused on teenagers’ inner conflicts, educational issues, parenting, and the emotional rollercoaster that affected everybody during the pandemic.
